Long-term mortgage rates recently dropped to their lowest level in 2010, states mortgage investment firm Freddie Mac. Affordability also is the highest it’s been in a decade, says the National Association of Realtors. Today’s low rates help both buyers and owners wishing to permanently reduce their monthly payments by refinancing. Freddie Mac notes that more than 95 percent of homeowners who refinanced in the first three months of 2010 selected a fixed-rate mortgage. Now those owners enjoy the peace of mind which comes from knowing their payments will remain affordable as long as they live in their home.
Refinancing could help many more homeowners cut their monthly payments. Unfortunately, some of those households think refinancing is harder than it actually is. We can show you what monthly payments to expect if you purchase or refinance soon. We’ll make certain your new payments fit into your budget, so you can make a constructive long-term decision. You may be pleasantly surprised at how much you’ll save when buying or refinancing soon. Contact us right away, since no one knows how long today’s rates will be available!
Home purchases soared earlier this spring, and have tapered off since then. That’s because federal income tax credits of up to $8,000 were offered to buyers until April 30. But the expiration of those tax breaks actually provides negotiating benefits for today’s purchasers. Fewer available buyers cause home sellers to compete harder to gain your attention. Additionally, mortgage rates steadily dropped after that tax benefit ended. Buying a home now is even easier to do than it was earlier this year.
Economic turmoil in Europe this spring encouraged investors to move their funds into the safety of U.S. government bonds. Extra demand for U.S. Treasuries lowered their yields, causing home loan rates also to fall. You’ll find current market conditions are better than they’ve been for some time. Having a large group of buyers trying to finalize a purchase before the end of April allowed many sellers then to hold firm to their prices. But you can expect sellers to be more willing to reduce their asking prices now. And don’t forget that low rates make your monthly payments more affordable!
Get in touch with us right away if you’re thinking about moving. You’ll find today’s opportunities may be greater than you anticipated.
